I miss Hawaii. I think it was a mistake to go from paradise and beaches to a place that is cold and wet. I figured that homesickness would become a little less as a year went by, but not so much. The water is insanely beautiful there. It was a little freaky going from the murky Atlantic where you could pretend that fishies weren't in there with you to this. For those who live there/visited this is taken by the Aloha Tower, where all the cruise ships come in. You would expect a little more murky water, wouldn't you think? There really isn't murky water in Hawaii though, not really.
Layla screamed for the first year whenever sand touched her. And then became such a sand baby, and water baby, that it totally amazes me. I have seen it though. Something about going to the beach weekly, eventually the babies find that the water and sand are fun things and have no fear of either. This was the start of Layla burying her leg, a favorite pastime at the beach.
And can you believe that these were the types of things we saw everyday? Clear blue water, white sand, wonderful sunsets? From our backyard we had a view of the mountain ranges. We saw rainbows and waterfalls so often that they actually started to get boring. But you know, to remind me why we also didn't like Hawaii that much, as beautiful as all this is, we never did take a picture of some of the humongous roaches we had. And there really isn't anything one can do to get rid of them. They have to share paradise with you. But really, as much as I don't miss somethings about Hawaii, I hope one day, somehow, we get to go back.

Oh, I want to go to the beach so bad! A real beach, not some rocky shore next to the Sound or Hood Canal.
